About us

Hanbok belongs to everyone now

Korean culture crossed the border a long time ago. The clothes should be able to follow.

Why we exist

For most of its history hanbok stayed inside Korea — worn at weddings, at ceremonies, at holidays, by people who grew up with it. Then K-drama, K-pop and Korean film went everywhere, and suddenly people in São Paulo and Jakarta and Warsaw wanted to know what that silhouette was.

We built HANBOKVERSE for exactly those people. Not a costume shop, not a novelty rental — a way for anyone, anywhere, to wear a genuine Korean hanbok and understand why it looks the way it does.

How it is made

A hanbok is not a dress with a jacket. The jeogori is cut so the shoulder line falls flat, the chima is gathered so it holds air, and the goreum ribbon is tied — never fastened — so the whole silhouette can move.

Our pieces come from an atelier in Korea that has been making them for over twenty years. Silk, ramie, hand-dyed cotton. Patterns drawn rather than printed. The colours are the traditional obangsaek palette, and they are chosen the way they always were: by season, by role, by occasion.
